Photo of Dan Kibler

Dan Kibler is a well-respected, road-tested rock musician hailing from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He first started playing in bar bands at the age of 17 and quickly made a name for himself in the local music scene. He soon formed a garage pop band called The Shout and later moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music career.

During his time in Los Angeles, Dan had the opportunity to meet and play with some of the best musicians in the business. After a few years, Dan decided it was time for a change and moved to Australia. While living in Australia, Dan worked at Fat Boy Studios, where he had the chance to observe some of his favorite bands up close and personal.

After moving back to America, Dan formed a band called El Kabong and released a self-titled record that was met with critical acclaim. He also recorded his first solo record with pop icon Jeff Murphy at the Recording Console in Zion, Illinois. This album, entitled "HAUNTED," caught the attention of Big Deal Records in New York City, which signed Dan to a contract. "HAUNTED" was later released on Blue Rose Records in Germany.

Dan's second solo record, "CAPSULE," received even more notice and favorable reviews. However, after Big Deal Records was absorbed and dissolved, Dan decided to release his third record, "ForEverAgo," independently. This album showcased an eclectic mix of originals and continued to surprise listeners with its unique sound.

In 2012, Dan released another new record, this time self-titled "DAN KIBLER," which was released on Kool Kat Musik. Dan and his band spent the next few years playing shows and promoting the album.

Dan began working on his new record, ‘Idiomatic,’ in 2019, just before the pandemic hit. For the project, he enlisted Michael Giblin (The Split Squad, Parallax Project) as the engineer and mixer. Michael also played bass on the record. Tom Kristich of The Jellybricks joined as the drummer, and the trio began work recording Dan’s new songs.

To record the album, the band would arrive at the studio without having heard any of the songs they would work on that day. Dan would introduce the song to the band by playing the song on his acoustic guitar for them, and from there, they would begin to play and collaborate on the arrangement and parts until they achieved a finished arrangement. When they were ready, Michael would hit the record button, and the band would record the song until they had a finished take. This process was repeated for every song on the album.

In 2020, recording was put on hold for a year due to the pandemic. Work on ‘Idiomatic’ resumed in 2021, and with the help of Dan’s circle of musicians, friends, and loved ones, the recording of the album was completed in late 2022. In early 2023, after mixing and mastering was completed, ‘Idiomatic’ was ready to be heard by Dan’s fans worldwide! Released in July of 2023, Idiomatic shows Dan Kibler at his best. “I truly feel like this is the best album I’ve ever written, and I love how the record turned out. The band sounds great on every track, and I couldn’t be happier with what the final product sounds like.”

Over the years, Dan has played at numerous festivals and clubs all over the United States, including SXSW, NXNE, CMJ, and many more. Despite his success, Dan remains grounded and grateful, considering himself a singer/songwriter who is lucky enough to have the best musicians anywhere play along with him.
